At = @

Adorei a abreviação do AT pelo @ (cuja pronúncia também é "at").
Esta placa estava dentro do aeroporto do Houston no restaurante Pappadeaux.
At 8:00 A.M = @ 8:00 A.M.
Informal, é claro.
See you soon!!!

To make a pun - Fazer um trocadilho

Writing with a broken pencil is pointless.

The dead batteries were given out free of charge.

A rule of grammar: double negatives are a no-no.

If Clauses

First Conditional

Ex.:

If I win the lottery, I will be rich.
Se eu ganhar na loteria, serei rico.

Logo, temos a seguinte estrutura:

If + simple present + future sentence
If I win the lottery, I will be rich.

Second Conditional

Ex.:

If I knew her address, I would send her flowers.
Se eu soubesse o endereço dela, Eu a mandaria flores.

Neste caso, a estrutura muda para:

If     +    simple past   +   would   +   infinitive
If I knew her address, I would send her flowers.

Third Conditional

Ex.:

If I had brought my umbrella, I wouldn't have to wait for the rain to stop.

If + past perfect + would have + infinitive
If I had brought my umbrella, I wouldn't have to wait for the rain to stop.

Comparatives

Comparative of Superiority (Comparativo de Superioridade)

Ex.:

Janny is more intelligent than Mary.
Janny é mais inteligente que Mary.

Paul is more talkative than John.

Ex.:

The student is taller than the teacher.

Carlos is shorter than me.

Ex.:

Beth is lazier than Chris.

Ex.:

Janet is thinner than Alice.
Janet é mais magra que Alice.

This house is bigger than the mine.

Esta casa é maior que a minha.
Comparative of Inferiority (Comparativo de Inferioridade)

Ex:

Juliet is less serious than Daisy.
Juliet é menos séria que Daisy.

PS. Ex.:

This cellphone is better than mine.

Este celular é melhor que o meu.

My laptop computer is worse than yours.

Meu notebook é pior que o seu.

Comparative of Equality (Comparativo de Igualdade)

Ex.:

Paul is as intelligent as Jonny.
Paul é tão inteligente quanto Jonny.

Ricky is as tall as Britney.

Ricky é tão alto quanto Britney.
